Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], July 8 (ANI): Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Chief Legal Advisor, Arshdeep Singh Kaler alleged that though the Aam Aadmi Party government tried to trap former party MLA Bikram Singh Majithia but finally after the court heard all the arguments, the summons were stayed.
“The Aam Aadmi Party government tried to trap Majithia and repeatedly formed SITs. Ultimately the results are before everyone. Majithia was harassed by repeatedly sending summons after which, arguments were presented in the court against the politically motivated summons and the summons were stayed,” Kaler said speaking at a press conference.
The SAD leader got a big relief from the Punjab and Haryana Hich Court on Monday in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case and the summons sent to Majithia by the SIT have been withdrawn.
Kaler said that the Akali Dal was targeted by all opposition parties in Punjab and attempts were made to defame them.
He pointed out that though Majithia’s name was brought up in the drug cases, not a single Akali Dal leader’s name came up in the final report of the investigation committee.
Kaler said that not a single piece of evidence was found against Majithia that linked him to the drugs case.
Slamming the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Kaler said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should leave his post and the government has to answer who is selling drugs in Punjab and who is getting them sold.
Kaler said that Punjab is projected as a drug hub, and Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi have also pointed out that 70 per cent of the youth in Punjab are in the grip of drugs. Kaler claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party has defamed Punjab for not being able to control the drug menace in the state. (ANI)
