Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 6 (ANI): A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Bhopal, said a police officer on Friday.
The incident occurred on August 28 and a complaint was lodged for the same at Eintkhedi police station in Bhopal on September 5, according to a copy of the FIR with ANI.
The accused has been identified as Irfan Khan (38); the victim knew him and used to call him uncle. The accused took the minor with him by luring her during school lunch hour and committed the crime.
Bhopal Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Pramod Kumar Sinha told ANI, “An incident was reported under Eintkhedi police station limits on September 5 in which a minor girl was raped. Acting on it, the police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections and arrested him.”
The accused will be produced before the court on Friday and further investigation into the matter is underway, the officer said.
“In the preliminary interrogation, it came to light that the accused was known to the victim. He took the minor with him by luring her during school lunch hour and committed the crime,” he added.
The victim told the police that she did not tell anyone about the incident in school and told her parents the next day. But due to being sick, she could not come to report the complaint, and later approached the Eintkhedi police station on September 5 and lodged the complaint, SP Sinha further said. (ANI)
