Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 7 (ANI): Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani-Vice Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army said that the Indian Army is always ready for new threats and the Army is strong in both Pakistan and China borders.
The Vice Chief was speaking at the sidelines of the Passing Out Parade held on Saturday at Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai.
Speaking to ANI Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani said, “Indian Army is always ready for new threats. Both in Pakistan and China borders we are strong and the Indian army is always ready to face any threats.”
The Parameshwaran Drill Square at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai witnessed a display of the military parade as Short Service Commission (SSC)-118, SSC (W)-32 and equivalent courses passed out on September 7, 2024. The event in tradition and reverence, marked the culmination of months of gruelling training of the Officer Cadets, heralding their transformation into the future leaders of the Indian Army.
A total of 258 Officer Cadets and 39 Officer Cadets (Women) were commissioned into various Arms and Services of the Indian Army, embodying the spirit of duty and sacrifice. Additionally, 10 Officer Cadets and 5 Officer Cadets (Women) from Friendly Foreign Countries successfully completed their training, fostering bonds of camaraderie and cooperation across international borders.
The parade captivated the spectators as Officer Cadets marched in perfect harmony with martial tunes. It was a moment of immense pride not only for the Officer Cadets and their families but for the dedicated Instructors and Administrative Staff of OTA Chennai as well, reflecting on the remarkable journey of growth and development witnessed over the past one year.
The Parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani who also presented the Sword of Honour to BUO Samrath Singh, OTA Gold Medal to BUO Simran Singh Rathi, Silver Medal to AUO Tanishka Damodran and the Bronze Medal to ACA Devesh Chandra Joshi. The Reviewing Officer, in his address, lauded the Officer Cadets and OTA staff for their exemplary achievements, exhorting the newly commissioned officers to uphold the cardinal military values of ‘Selfless Service to the Nation’ and steadfast pursuit of excellence in all endeavours.
Following the parade, the Pipping Ceremony symbolized a solemn vow as newly commissioned officers, adorned with the gleaming insignia on their shoulders, pledged allegiance to the Constitution of India and committed to safeguard the nation at all costs.
Among the esteemed guests in attendance were the proud parents of the Passing Out Officer Cadets, invited dignitaries, and members of the diplomatic fraternity.
The Passing Out Parade at Officers Training Academy Chennai stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment, valour, and unyielding dedication of future military leaders who will continue to uphold the proud legacy and traditions of the Indian Army.
Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani said, “The parade I witnessed today stands on an exceptional drill. 15 officer cadets have successfully completed training at this institution.Please carry the carry of goodwill when you return to your countries. It’s also heartening that women officer cadets with full energy. With all your efforts have proven gender has no boundaries when to serve the nation.”
He further said that today all of them have completed a very important course of professional training and education.
“The 21st century has seen a shift in the goals of war and reshaping its character and fast phase of technology have made it complex. You will be leading men and women under your command. It’s a most demanding profession and yet it’s an exciting and fulfilling one. You must have a thirst for knowledge. Embrace new technologies, and enable yourself with your technical knowledge,” he said.
Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani further said that empathy is a cornerstone for leadership.
“It connects with the soldier under you. Treat them with compassion, train them and push them to face the challenges ahead. Discipline is a foundation for all and it’s not just following orders but self-control. When leading troups you are also the key player. Rules for team are also for a leader. You can only say follow me when you are a leader,” he said.
He further said that to adapt to the transformation process the officer should be mentally and technically equipped.
“You have to fulfill the sacred duty to the nation and maintain the unity and integrity of the nation. You are now the custodian of the nation. You are privileged to be in the finest army in the world. Lead with example and compassion for the needs of others. It’s essential to acknowledge on contribution of your parents,” he added. (ANI)
