Ganderbal (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 22 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday visited Gagangir in Ganderbal to interact with officers and workers of the Project Implementing Agency and review security measures at the project site, as per an official release.
During his visit, the Lt Governor chaired a meeting with officers from the Police, Civil Administration, the Project Implementing Agency, and other security agencies. He directed that the security grid should be further strengthened to ensure zero terror incidents in order to promote rapid social and economic development.
In the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor underlined the need for securing the vital infrastructure projects across J&K UT and putting in place a multi-pronged and foolproof mechanism for coordination with project implementing agencies to prevent security breaches. He said the safety and security of workers and officers working on key infrastructure projects is the highest priority for the government.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised the need for stricter access control and regular patrolling around the project sites. He also directed the security forces and the police to conduct coordinated counter-terrorism operations proactively to wipe out terrorism in J&K UT.
Earlier, LG Sinha directed Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary of the Home Department in J-K, to immediately extend financial assistance to the families of civilian victims of the Gagangir terror attack.
He also asked the APCO Infratech company to release compensation without delay. Officials from APCO Infratech briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the assistance being provided to the families of the victims.
Under the SRE, Rs 6 lakh will be given to the next of kin of each martyred civilian, with Rs 15 lakh provided as an immediate measure by the APCO Infratech company.
An ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given to all injured. The company will also provide financial assistance to the families of civilians on roll under a Corporate Personal Accident Policy and five years of their gross CTC as compensation from insurance.
On Sunday, a doctor, a designer, and five construction workers were killed when terrorists opened fire at a construction site in Ganderbal’s Gagangir. (ANI)
