New Delhi [India], October 13 (ANI): Demanding a CBI Investigation into the murder of NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Baba Siddique, Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Sunday questioned the law and order situation in Maharashtra.
Baba Siddique sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest before being brought to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment, where he succumbed on Saturday night, doctors at the hospital said.
Alvi claimed that the arrests related to the case appear questionable and suggested that they were intended to conceal the police’s incompetence.
“He was a well-known politician of Maharashtra. Earlier, he was in our party, then he joined Ajit Pawar’s faction. He was provided with security. Despite that, he was shot by strangers. It is a concerning matter. Is there no law and order? If Baba Siddique can be murdered like this, then how the common man of Maharashtra would feel safe?,” Alvi said.
“This should be investigated…The arrests made in the case are suspicious. I think those arrests were made just to hide the incompetence of the police there. This matter should be investigated by CBI,” he added.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has registered a case at Nirmal Nagar Police Station in connection with the murder under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.

As per police, the two accused have been identified as Gurmail Singh, a native of Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh who were in Mumbai and were keeping a close eye on Siddique.
Baba Siddique was admitted around 9.30 pm on Saturday and, despite extensive resuscitative efforts, succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Dr Jalil Parkar, a physician at Lilavati Hospital, said, “Around 9.30 pm, Baba Siddique was brought here. When he arrived in the emergency room, his pulse and blood pressure were unrecordable, and the ECG showed a flat line. We shifted him to the ICU.”

“He was declared dead around 11.27 pm. He had bullet wounds on his chest,” Dr Parkar added.

Dr Nitin Gokhale, a cardiologist at the hospital, said that the exact number of bullets would be confirmed following a postmortem examination.

“Baba Siddique was brought in with no pulse or blood pressure. He had two gunshot wounds to his chest. We initiated emergency resuscitation measures and shifted him to the ICU. He was declared dead at 11:27 PM. The total number of bullets will be confirmed after the postmortem,” Dr Gokhale told reporters. (ANI)
