Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 1 (ANI): BRS MLA and Former Minister Harish Rao criticised Minister Uttam Kumar Redddy’s recent remarks on former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), saying that his statement shows a clear lack of respect.
Harish Rao’s attack on Uttam Kumar Reddy comes after the latter called KCR a “dacoit.”
“Uttam, are you trying to match Revanth in using offensive language? Harish Rao asked. Your name might be Uttam Kumar, but your language is anything but ‘uttam’ (best). It’s more like the polluted waters of the Musi river,” Harish Rao said.
Harish Rao further went on to question why the Congress introduced the EPC contract system, raised project costs without explanation, and handed out advance payments, which, according to Harish Rao, was a way to loot the state.
“Wasn’t it you, Uttam, who inflated the Pranahita-Chevella project’s budget from 17,000 crore to 40,000 crore without even starting the work?” Harish Rao asked.
He further said that the project was originally approved for 17,875 crore but later increased to 38,500 crore under the Congress government, with Uttam’s involvement.
Harish Rao also pointed out that the Congress government divided the Tummidihatti Barrage project into multiple parts and began work without an agreement with Maharashtra. This led to significant advance payments, Harish Rao said, adding that it benefitted Congress, indicating Uttam Kumar Reddy’s involvement.
“In 2010, your Congress government increased the project cost to Rs 40,300 crore and sent it to the central government,” Rao said.
Further speaking on Telanaga, Harish Rao praised KCR’s leadership, especially in agriculture. He highlighted a recent Central Agriculture Ministry report showing Telangana’s food grain production growth at 16.42%, outpacing major agricultural states like Punjab and Maharashtra.
“This success is due to KCR’s farmer-friendly policies and projects like Kaleshwaram, Harish Rao said. In 2014-15, Telangana’s crop area was 1.29 crore acres. By 2022-23, it expanded to 2.21 crore acres, making Telangana the top state in food grain production,” Rao said
He also mentioned the completion of major irrigation projects and the modernisation of canals and tanks, which have greatly improved the water supply for farming.
“Telangana’s progress under KCR’s leadership speaks for itself. It’s time to stop the baseless accusations and recognise the real work being done,” he added. (ANI)
