Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 20 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister BhajanLal Sharma on Friday visited the site of the Bhankrota fire and announced that a helpline had been issued and necessary arrangements had been made to provide treatment to those injured.
A massive fire broke out in Jaipur when a chemical-laden truck collided with an LPG-carrying tanker and other vehicles and caught fire on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Friday morning. According to the police the fire soon spread to the fuel pump in the city’s Bhankrota area. At least four people were killed, and at least 40 others were injured in the incident.
Speaking to mediapersons, the Chief Minister said “I visited the hospital and have directed them to admit and make necessary arrangements for all the injured people. The government will make sure all necessary help is provided. We have issued a helpline for any help that is required. This is a very tragic incident. I received information that four people have died.. I hope they recover soon. My condolences to the families of the deceased.”
Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa who was also present at the site of the incident expressed his grief .

Speaking to mediapersons, Bairwa said “It is a tragic incident. We are saddened by the death of four to five people. Around 39 people are admitted to SMS Hospital. The CM has visited the hospital…I am here reviewing the incident spot. A separate unit has been formed for them to give them the required treatment.”
Bairwa also took to social media platform X and in a post wrote that he conducted a site inspection of the spot and said that detailed guidelines were provided to the administrative officers for necessary arrangements.
“Along with the Hon’ble Chief Bhajanlal conducted a site inspection of the incident of massive fire in a petrol pump and chemical tanker near Bhankrota area on Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway.
“After taking a detailed look at the site of the incident, detailed guidelines were provided to the administrative officers for necessary arrangements. The state government is fully standing with the affected families in this unfortunate incident and I express my deep condolences to the departed souls.
“Minister of State for Home, Jawahar Singh Bedham was also present on this occasion,” the post read.
Rajasthan Minister Jawahar Singh Bedam who also inspected the site said that the government would provide necessary help to the families of the deceased.

“We have made a dedicated ICU in the hospital. Prima facie it seems the accident happened due to a collision between a truck and a container of CNG. There have been casualties. The administration is here. The government will provide necessary help to the families of the deceased people…”
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra reached the Sawai ManSingh Hospital to meet with the victims.

Speaking to mediapersons, Dotsara said that the doctors were providing treatment to the people.
“This incident pains us. When we met the injured, we came to know how passengers asleep in a sleeper bus were engulfed in fire before they could even wake up. We pray to God to heal the injured who have been brought here but their condition is serious. 20-25 people are badly burnt. Doctors are providing them with treatment. Administration and Government are working diligently to ensure their medical treatment. Governments should make proper arrangements beforehand to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.”
Further, the Congress President said that the incident was a major learning for the state and the country and make sure that the Government takes concrete measures to ensure such incidents do not occur again.
“This is a major incident for Rajasthan and the entire country. We should learn lessons from this, have a high-level committee investigation and then the government should take concrete measures to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in future…We stand united (with in the face of such incidents…We will work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Government, wherever it is required…May the departed souls rest in peace…,” he said.
Taking to social media X, Dotasra in a post offered condolences to families of the deceased.
“The news of four people dying and many people getting injured in the horrific accident caused by the explosion of a chemical tanker near Bhankrota in Jaipur due to which several vehicles including a bus got hit is extremely sad.
My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured and I will reach the hospital soon to know about their well-being,” the post read.
Visuals showed efforts by the rescue teams to recover a body from a container which was gutted due to the massive fire.
The fire incident broke out on Bhankrota on Friday morning on the main Ajmer road.
The incident occurred when multiple vehicles collided near a petrol pump. Deaths of four people has been confirmed while 40 people have been admitted for treatment. Nearly 40 vehicles including trucks and trolleys were burnt in the incident.
Amit Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP), while speaking to ANI, said, “A horrific accident and fire occurred in the Bhankrota area of Jaipur. The accident happened early today on the main Ajmer Road. Nearly two dozen vehicles caught fire, and many trucks and trolleys were burnt to ashes. The accident took place near a petrol pump in the Bhankrota area.”The fire started due to a collision involving several vehicles one after the other. Efforts are being made to extinguish the fire,” SP Amit Kumar said.
Further investigations are underway. (ANI)
