Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 5 (ANI): BRS Party Working President KT Rama Rao has said that the Telangana government has illegally detained former Telangana Digital Media Director Dileep Konatham without any formal information or clarity on the charges against him.
“BRS Party, in a statement by its Working President KT Rama Rao said that, in a brazen display of autocratic governance, former Telangana Digital Media Director Dileep Konatham was illegally detained without any formal information or clarity on the charges against him,” as per a statement from KT Rama Rao’s PRO.
The Party states that, this arrest comes after a series of incidents where Dileep questioned the inefficiency of Revanth Reddy’s government, which seems to be using revenge politics to silence critics, the release further stated.
BRS Working President KTR added that, despite a previous reprimand from the High Court for such actions, the state government continues to target those who speak out, showcasing a complete disregard for democratic principles.
“KTR has strongly condemned this unlawful detention and called for Dileep’s immediate release, asserting that no number of false cases or arrests will stop the voices that question this administration,” the statement from KTR’s office read.
BRS leader further added that, the blatant suppression of freedom of speech in Telangana has been going on for the last 9 months, reflecting a shift towards autocracy under Congress rule. (ANI)
On Thursday, KT Rama Rao had accused Telangana CM Revanth Reddy of revealing wrong data about the deaths due to recent floods.
KTR shared a post on X, listing a total of 31 deceased and alleged that the government has “failed to do a proper assessment.”
“You (referring to CM Reddy) know that is disrespectful to a person? Ignoring his death, lying about their death, not considering their death I request the Telangana government to stop peddling lies. You had announced yesterday that only 16 people died. But please ask your team to check this list and help all the families,” KTR wrote on X.
“If you released wrong data because you aren’t aware – I pity you! And if you have released the wrong data because you wanted to cover up your inadequacies- I abhor you! Shame on you!” KTR further added.
Earlier, CM Reddy said that 16 people lost their lives due to heavy rains. He also said that Crops have been damaged in lakhs of acres, canals and ponds breached, road network cut off and electric substations and electric poles also damaged. (ANI)
