Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 28 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) candidate from Anushakti Nagar assembly seat and daughter of Nawab Malik, Sana Malik who filed her nominations for Maharashtra Assembly elections expressed her gratitude at being able to contest the upcoming polls stating that said that “we never let our family issues come in front of people.”
“Today is a very important day. It is very emotional for me because I am making a new beginning because this beginning is not in my politics. But I am contesting the assembly elections for the first time and I am contesting from a place where my father has already been an MLA,” she told ANI on Monday.
Sana further said that the people understand how “courageous” she is and will understand that she is the right candidate for the area.
“But people know how courageous we are, how much of a fighter we are. We never let our family issues come in front of the people and keeping that aside, we worked with full strength for the people of Anushakti Nagar. People showed faith in me. People love me and they know that this girl was working with her father and also without him. So this is the right candidate for us,” she said.
Prior to filing her nomination, the NCP (Ajit Pawar) faction candidate held a road show with her father, NCP leader Nawab Malik also being present.
Taking to her social media post X, she said, “Carrying the mantle of my father, Nawab Malik, is the greatest responsibility I have ever been entrusted with. It is not merely a political legacy, but a deep, personal bond with the people of Anushakti Nagar–a place where my father’s heart and soul always resided. For decades, he served as the guiding force for this community, an unwavering pillar of support, and a voice for the voiceless.
“Today, as I file my nomination from the same constituency where he was loved, respected, and trusted, I cannot help but feel a profound sense of honor and gratitude,” she said..
Earlier NCP-SCP leader Jayant Patil announced that Samajwadi Party leader and actor Swara Bhaskar’s husband Fahad Ahmad had joined NCP-SCP and that he has been fielded from the Anushakti Nagar seat against Sana Malik.
On October 26, Nawab Malik, a two time MP from Anushakti Nagar had announced that he will contest Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar Assembly constituency
Speaking to ANI, Malik claimed that the people has urged him to contest elections from the constituency they are very upset with the hooliganism and drug business which is going on in Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar.
He further said, “I will be filing my nomination on October 29 from the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar Assembly constituency. The public has urged me to contest elections from here. The public is very upset with the hooliganism and drug business which is going on in Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar. The public wants change and I will be contesting the elections from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar and will surely win…I don’t care who is opposing me, the public is supporting me.”
Notably, Bharatiya Janata Party officials said they will always oppose him, saying that he is accused of having relations with Dawood Ibrahim.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies on November 23. (ANI)
