Manipur CM N Biren Singh extends wishes on Irabot Day, calls for unity – World News Network

Imphal (Manipur) [India], September 30 (ANI): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday extended his greetings to the people of state on the occasion of Irabot Day.
He urged the people of Manipur to come together in the spirit of unity and continue working for the betterment of the great state on this occasion, adding that the Irabot’s unwavering dedication to the cause of social justice and welfare of the people continues to inspire us all.
“On this solemn occasion of Irabot Day, we pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot, whose unwavering dedication to the cause of social justice, equality, and the welfare of the people continues to inspire us all,” he said in a post on X.
“I urge everyone to come together in the spirit of unity and continue working for the betterment of the great state,” he added in the post.
Notably, Irabot Day is observed on the birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot, who was a legendary leader known for his contributions to the social, political, economic, and administrative development of Imphal West, Manipur. He is credited with initiating the socio-political movement in Manipur.
Chief Minister Biren also attended the observance of Irabot Day,2024 at Imphal’s Irawat Square.
He shared the pictures of Irabot Day in a social media post on X and wrote, “Attended the observance of Jana Neta Hijam Irawat Day, 2024, at Irawat Square, Lilashing Khongnangkhong, Thangmeiband, Imphal today.”
“Irawat was a visionary leader who spearheaded campaigns to uplift the people with socio-economic reforms. His fight against religious exploitation & economic oppression shall continue to inspire us for generations,” Manipur CM’s post reads.
Speaking to media persons, CM N Biren Singh said, “Today is the 128th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot. I extend my best wishes to the people of Manipur for Irabot Day. We will try and make Manipur the way he always wanted.”
When asked about 3 men allegedly abducted in Manipur, he said, “One person has already been released unharmed and the state and central government are trying hard to rescue them safely. We are also sending the DGP to the district to hold talks with them so that both of them can be released unharmed…” (ANI)
