Guna (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 17 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh police busted a counterfeit currency racket and arrested three men in connection with the same in Guna district, a police officer said.
According to the police, the accused reportedly used to make counterfeit notes using chemicals and circulate them in the market by luring people with promises to multiply their money tenfold, enticing victims to exchange their legitimate cash for fake notes.
The matter came to light when a youth named Salman Khan gave Rs 20,000 to them in the desire of getting Rs 2 lakh in return but he didn’t receive the promised money from the accused. Following this, Khan approached Cantt Police Station and lodged a case of forgery against them on Tuesday, October 15.
Guna’s Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Man Singh Thakur told ANI, “A youth named Salman Khan complained to the police that he met with three men, residents of Ujjain, near Nanakhedi Mandi under Cantt Police Station in the district. The accused told Khan that they used to prepare currency notes and promised him to give Rs 1 lakh in exchange for Rs 10,000.”
“Lured by the promise, Khan gave them Rs 20,000, but when the accused failed to prepare notes, they escaped. Based on the complaint of Khan, we registered a case against the accused and arrested them. We are further investigating whether if they committed the fraud in the past,” ASP Thakur said.
“The police recovered Rs 20,000 from the accused and also confiscated the materials involved in making the counterfeit currencies,” the officer added. (ANI)
