New Delhi [India], October 4 (ANI): Congress MP Kumari Selja denied rumours that she has been “upset” with Congress leaders over certain decisions taken by the party regarding the Haryana elections, saying, “In the Congress, ultimately our faith lies in the high command only.”
In an interview with ANI, she said that she stands with the Congress leaders but the committees which decided the ticket distribution for the assembly election did not consult and talk to other local leaders properly, which had them lacking.
“Madam ji (Sonia Gandhi) is not taking as much interest as before. Earlier, when she was president, she was totally in command, recently, Rahul was also abroad, In between that, the people the ticket distribution committees in the party could not deal with the situation properly. The talking had to happen, but it did not happen, so they fell short,” she said.
She further said that no bargaining is happening with the party leaders regarding the Haryana Chief Minister’s position, “What bargaining? In the Congress, ultimately our faith lies in the high command only. I still stand by them (Gandhi family) and will, they know that and are aware of that.”
She further reiterated her loyalty to the party, explained how she has seen a lot of situations as Congress leader, and said that while one goes through a lot of emotions, she is ultimately not angry with the Congress.
“I am not angry with Congress, in the party there are lots of talks happening, you are presented with a lot of situations, so in all this you sometimes get a little angry, you don’t like something, other times you are happy, so these situations happen all the times. I have been here for more than 35 years, so I have seen all kinds of situations,” she added.
She elaborated that sometimes people perceive that respect is not being given to her, but that is not true, she said, adding, “Respect is being given, and I have a position too. Sometimes there are situations where people feel that respect was not given. Sometimes that perception is there, rajneeti is all a perception game.”
On being asked if she helped her supporters get the tickets for the Assembly polls, she responded, saying, “No one can give hundred percent of tickets,” she said.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with counting set to take place on October 8. (ANI)
