Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 11 (ANI): National Conference President Farooq Abdullah accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of “dividing” Muslims and said that the “people will teach them a lesson,” referring to the upcoming assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also alleged that Lok Sabha MP Er Rashid, who walked out of Tihar jail hours ago, will also talk about the lotus-party symbol of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Baramullah MP walked out of Tihar Jail on Wednesday on interim bail. The bail was granted by Delhi’s special NIA court on Tuesday to allow Rashid to campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. He has to surrender on October 3.
“He will also talk about the ‘phool’ (lotus- BJP symbol) of those who have released him. They want to divide Muslims here and he is with them…I want to remind them of Indian Airlines flight 814, the terrorism that is going on today is being run by those who were released at that time. I told them not to do this, but they did not listen and today we are victims of it,” Farooq, the former Jammu and Kashmir CM, said.
Farooq added, “BJP and RSS want to weaken India. People here will teach them a lesson…”
Earlier in the day, National Conference Vice-President Omar Abdullah said, “The bail has been given to him only for 20 days for the elections. The people were told to cast votes for Rashid to let him out of jail. He has only been given bail so that the votes can be achieved. In one way, the Baramulla people have used their votes,” he added.
Further, he said that the BJP always talks in different ways.
“I do not understand how the BJP always talks in different ways. When Arvind Kejriwal was given bail, that time as well, they created a ruckus. There is something wrong here. If people use their votes in a sentiment and emotional manner, then I am sure the BJP will win with their tricks. If they use their brain, I will win.”
Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1. The counting will be done on October 8.
There are a total number of 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 7 seats are reserved for SCs and 9 seats are reserved for STs. (ANI)
