Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 11 (ANI): To counter the disaster caused by monsoons, the Deputy Commissioner of the Shimla district administration, Anupam Kashyap on Thursday convened a special meeting with the joint task force and reviewed its preparedness on the issue.
Deputy Commissioner interacted with the newly formed force which includes a 35-member team of the NDRF commandos and nine members of the Quick Response Team (QRT) of Home Guards.
Highlighting the points of the meeting, Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Anupam Kashyap said, “We at District administration are ready to deal with the disaster situations and the district administration review it time to time, we have constituted a team of Home Guards for quick movement and apart from that we have a 35-member NDRF team here. They are trained in different activities. Today we decided to convene an interaction between the Home Guards, police, and NDRF.
“We have focused on the preparedness. These teams would be here for the next three months. We are alert and directions have been given to take action when needed. SP has also given the same directions to the policemen. We also feel that it is important that the public contribution and administration is a medium to deal with the disaster. We are fully prepared to handle any disaster situations,” said Kashyap.
“Our comprehensive strategy includes the deployment of a Quick Response Team for swift mobilization, alongside a dedicated NDRF team trained in various emergency response activities,” stated DC Kashyap.
The initiative underscores Shimla’s proactive approach to mitigating disaster risks, leveraging lessons learned from past experiences to enhance preparedness and public safety.
The meeting emphasized the importance of coordination among the Home Guards, police forces, and NDRF to enhance operational efficiency. These teams will remain stationed here for the next three months, ensuring prompt response to any crisis.
Meanwhile, NDRF Inspector Praveen, representing the team based in Shimla, highlighted their readiness and ongoing efforts to upgrade their capabilities.
“We are committed to working closely with the administration and police to ensure effective disaster response and lifesaving operations,” said Inspector Praveen.
Adding to it, he further said, “As administrators and authorities, we are aware and we have done good work during the disaster. Learning from the previous years’ experience, we are prepared better this year. We are a team of 35 people here and we shall be ready to reach the spot during the incident and save our lives. NDRF has been facing challenges and we upgrade ourselves over time and we work with the administration and we get preparedness and with coordination of administration and police we are ready for live saving.” (ANI)
