New Delhi [India], October 24 (ANI): Taking a dig at the Maha Vikas Aghadi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that when Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray used to be in alliance with the BJP, tickets were decided from Matoshree and Shiv Sena (UBT) used to get more seats to contest. He added that Uddhav Thackeray has not even been allowed to become the Chief ministerial face.
“…When he (Uddhav Thackeray) used to be in alliance with us – tickets used to be decided from Matoshree and they (Shive Sena-UBT) used to contest on more seats. Now, Congress and NCP-SCP neither allowed him to be the CM face nor he has been given more than 100 seats,” said the BJP leader.
Taking a jibe at the Congress party, Shehzad Poonawalla said that the Congress has become ‘Kaccha Nimboo’ in the Maha Vikas Aghadi.
“Congress party is also becoming ‘Kaccha Nimboo’ in the alliance – which is not even allowed to bowl an entire over but given mini over to bowl or kept as 12th man. The way the Congress party is becoming irrelevant in each state. Also, Udddhav ji did everything – he sat with those who abused Savarkar and Hindutva, but what did he get? I think he must be regretting,” he added.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed on Thursday that the Maha Vikas Agadhi (MVA) has reached an agreement on seat sharing for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
According to him, each alliance partner, namely Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) will be contesting 85 seats each.
Patole said that the official announcement will be made today evening or tomorrow.
On being asked if he will take up the responsibility of the CM face of Maha Vikas Aghadi if proposed, Nana Patole said, “First of all, our responsibility is to bring our government to power. Then our High Command will make a decision. We want to protect Maharashtra…”
Additionally, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also confirmed that the MVA partners will be contesting 85 seats each.
The nomination process for the 288 seats in the assembly has started. The polling for those seats will happen on November 20 with the results to be declared on November 23.
In the 2019 assembly elections in Maharashtra, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress won 44 seats. (ANI)
