Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 27 (ANI):Given the heavy rains in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed officials of concerned districts to conduct relief work with promptness.
CM Adityanath instructed the officials to visit the affected areas, ensure that the relief work is carried out properly and provide required assistance to the affected people, as per a release.
The CM addressed the families affected by the disaster and gave instructions to officials to provide permissible relief amounts to the families whose animals and homes were lost, the release said.
Meanwhile, Gorakhpur experienced heavy rain on Thursday morning. This caused trouble for schoolchildren and farmers who have been suffering heavy losses due to their paddy crops being damaged due to the continuous rain.
Given the heavy rains in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed officials of concerned districts to conduct relief work with full promptness. Adityanath instructed the officials to visit the affected areas, ensure that the relief work is carried out properly and provide required assistance to the affected people, as per a release.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for very heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
Earlier on September 24, Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, in a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister requested urgent relief for farmers in the Braj region due to crop losses suffered from excessive rains.
In his letter, Chaudhary said, “Recently, during my visit to the Braj region of Uttar Pradesh, I visited many villages, and it was seen that due to excessive rains in this area, the crops of the farmers have suffered a lot and they need to be provided immediate relief.”
He urged the Chief Minister to conduct a survey in the affected villages on a priority basis.
According to reports farmers in Moradabad have also struggled with crop damage caused by heavy rain and strong winds. Reports indicate that about 60 percent of sugarcane and 70 percent of paddy crops have been affected. The ongoing rain has left fields waterlogged, while strong winds have caused widespread damage. In many areas, sugarcane has completely fallen over, and paddy fields are underwater. (ANI)
