Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 26 (ANI): Two people, who were allegedly involved in multiple robberies, were arrested by the Fatehpur Police after an encounter at Bahd village, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The encounter occurred at Mughal Marg in the Bakandha village area under the Kotwali police. According to a statement by the police, 2 pistols, 2 empty cartridges, 2 live cartridges, Rs 29450 cash, one motorcycle, and 2 allegedly looted gold chains had been recovered from the accused.
The two accused, identified as 26-year-old Golu and 26-year-old Karan, have had multiple cases of robberies registered against them. One of them, Golu, also had a reward of Rs 25,000 on him.
Acting on a tipoff, the inspector in charge of Kotwali Nagar police station, the inspector in charge of Radhanagar, along with Station House Officer Hathgaon, along with their respective teams, had been checking the area at Bakandha village for the accused. According to the police, when the accused were apprehended, they started firing at the officials, which led to the police firing in self defence and injuring one person on the leg and arresting the other while he tried to escape the police.
“At around 4:50 AM, during checking, 2 persons were seen coming from Bindki on a motorcycle. When they appeared suspicious, an attempt was made to stop them. They turned the vehicle back and tried to run away, but slipped and fell along with the motorcycle. Seeing themselves surrounded, they started firing towards the police. In the firing done by the police team in self-defence, the accused Golu was injured by a bullet hitting his leg. The other accused, Karan, was caught while running away,” said a statement by Fatehpur police.
The injured had been sent to the Sadar Hospital for treatment.
The police officials said that the recovered gold chains from the accused was related to a previous FIR registered regarding a robbery.
The police have added the charges under Section 417(2) under the BNS. In a previous FIR, the police had registered cases under Section 109 BNS and 3/25 under the Arms Act.
The investigation into the cases is ongoing. (ANI)
