New Delhi [India], October 15 (ANI): Reacting to the Kerala assembly passing resolution for Waqf Amendment Bill withdrawal, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that the Left and the Congress party talk about the country’s constitution but have little faith in it. He further questioned the opposition saying if they have any jurisdiction to pass a resolution on matters which are being dealt with by the centre.
“The Left and the Congress party, they talk about the Constitution, but they have little faith in the Constitution of India. Can they have any jurisdiction to pass a resolution on matters which are being dealt with by the centre? And especially on something that is now being put in the JPC for discussion,” said Shehzad Poonawalla.
Hitting out further, the BJP leader said that the opposition aims at polarising Musilms by giving them false information.
“They brought a resolution against CAA law, which deals with citizenship. They brought a resolution against one nation, one election. The agenda is only to polarize Muslims by giving them false information and false propaganda. This is the true face of the Congress party and the Left parties…They are against good governance…” he added.
Earlier on Monday, opposition MPs, who were part of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting held on Waqf Bill, walked out over allegations made by Anwar Manippady, former Chairman of the Karnataka State Minorities Commission and the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation.
According to the MPs, Manippady deviated from the agenda of the meeting and made a series of allegations against the Karnataka Government and levelled allegations against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. The opposition MPs said that the allegations were irrelevant and unacceptable.
The MPs expressed dismay over Manippady’s remarks, alleging that his comments were “politically motivated” and violated the mandate of the Joint Parliamentary Committee set up to examine the Waqf Bill.
Notably, the Kerala Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on Monday urging the central government to withdraw the controversial 2024 Waqf Amendment Bill. (ANI)
