New Delhi [India], January 26 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla marked the 76th Republic Day by unfurling the national flag at his residence in Delhi on Sunday, emphasising the importance of fulfilling the resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat.’
He extended his greetings to the nation, highlighting the significance of the Indian Constitution as a living document that guides the country’s values and principles.
“I extend my heartfelt greetings to everyone on the occasion of 76th #RepublicDay…The Constitution is a living document and shows us the way to live. I pay tribute to all those who played an important role in making the Constitution. We all should come forward to fulfil the resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat’,” he said while addressing mediapersons.
Birla also acknowledged the strong relationship between India and Indonesia, noting that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit as the chief guest marked a significant milestone in their bilateral ties.
Biral said, “Indonesia and India enjoy a good relationship with each other. After 75 years, President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has come to India…”
Notably, this visit was particularly notable, given that Indonesian President Sukarno was also the chief guest at India’s first Republic Day celebration in 1950.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag at Kartavya Path followed by the national anthem with a thunderous 21-gun salute using 105-mm Light Field Guns, an Indigenous weapon system.
President of India and her Indonesian counterpart, President Prabowo Subianto were escorted by the President’s Bodyguard, the senior-most regiment of the Indian Army.
The two Presidents arrived in the ‘traditional buggy,’ a practice that made a comeback in 2024 after a gap of 40 years.
The parade at Kartavya Path will be heralded by 300 cultural artists playing ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’ with musical instruments from different parts of the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid a wreath at the National War Memorial, situated at the iconic India Gate. This moment marked the beginning of a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. (ANI)
