Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], November 13 (ANI): As voting is underway for Jharkhand Assembly polls and by-elections for 31 assembly seats across 10 states, Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed confidence that Congress would win all the seats in Rajasthan Assembly bypolls.
Sachin Pilot said, “Today is a polling day. The first phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections and bypolls at several places are being conducted. The polling is also being done at Wayanad. I hope that our candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will register a big win. She will be a strong voice in the Parliament. We will win all the seats in Rajasthan Assembly bypolls.”
He further said that polling is underway in Rajasthan for by-polls in 7 seats and this is the first time that within one year of formation of the government people have lost the trust on the government.
“The state government has been unable to deliver anything in Rajasthan. People are tired. People want to send a message,” he added.
Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Pilot said that the BJP cannot rule as per their wish.
He said, “They (the centre) introduced the bill which was earlier withdrawn. Then, the JPC was formed. The work of Parliament is not like wrestling. It is done after holding discussions. Many leaders and parties do not agree to the provisions in the bill. They (BJP) cannot rule as per their wish. This time, they are not elected with a complete majority.”
Amit Shah on Tuesday boldly asserted that the Narendra Modi government will amend the Waqf Board law “come what may (danke ki chot par)” and after that no one would be able to declare private land as Waqf property.
The by-polls in Rajasthan on seven seats including Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinwsar, Chorasi, Salumbar and Ramgarh are underway with results to be declared on November 20. The by-polls on these seven seats were necessitated after two MLAs died and five others were elected to the Lok Sabha.
Notably, of these seven seats, five were held by the Congress and its allies (Bharat Adivasi Party-one), while the BJP and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) held one each.
The BJP has 114 MLAs in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, the Congress has 65, the Bharat Adivasi Party three, the Bahujan Samaj Party two, one Rashtriya Lok Dal and eight independents.
Voting for the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections began on Wednesday morning, with voting taking place in 43 out of the state’s 81 seats. A voter turnout of 13.04 per cent was recorded till 9 am in the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections, as per the Election Commission of India.
Voting also began this morning in the by-elections for 31 assembly seats across 10 states including the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala. Wayanad’s contest includes Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from Congress, Navya Haridas from BJP, and Sathyan Mokeri from the Left alliance.(ANI)
